Glitter Gore - A_COLD_PLACE
Glitter Gore are a witch house/breakcore group from an unknown location of the world. It’s a shame there is so little information around Glitter Gore, since their works are well polished and deserving of attention. Their folloup to Friends was slightly less impressive, though a solid entry into their discography. Released March 22nd, 2022, A_COLD_PLACE was an inconsistent, yet overall enjoyable piece of work.
The album is very conspiratorial in nature. Featuring samples of witness testiomonies, secret society exposé, occult lectures, and interviews on freemasons. The sample use is fitting for the maniacal witch-house. Many times have artists sampled Alex Jones and David Icke to a comical effect, yet very few achieve the striking emotional balance of A_COLD_PLACE. Disjointed incorporates an ever evolving dub to a fascinating extent in the same vein of Insection Vespos. Arrogantia and Pendulum take the same format, eluding one to believing he was influenced by the formerly named artist. The later beautiful intertwines acoustic instrumentation, before The Divine Light Perveying All Living Structures completely envelopes in it. Nigredo invites a frantic clamour of crying and screaming in a frightening re-enactment of satanic abuse, though instrumentally it is lacking compared to Gore’s previous body of work.
As with their Friends EP, A_COLD_PLACE is miraculously creative and progressive in its composition department. There are hidden surprises at every turn, sometimes gorgeous, sometimes frightening. Even if the songs sound like a mashup of scrapped ideas (Pluto (invokation)), there’s a brilliant flow to them. It’s a shame the album is overly-reliant on samples at times; it goes overboard towards the end in a preachy manner. Had the album focused more on its gorgeous blend of acoustics and witchhouse, it would have stood tall with Friends. No matter how powerful the message, it can’t avoid the reality that the method is cheap. Regardless, the highs are still very high, and are well deserving of a listen-through.
