Too Piste - Hitting Skins and Pulling Strings EP

Despite a terrific, unique album art cover, Hitting Skins and Pulling Strings EP by Too Piste is just a rehash of most alternative/math rock, albeit very finely executed.

The progression on I Think So, I Hope So, Maybe, No is admirable; the acoustic elements gradually explode into a head-pounding finale. The energy is maintained throughout Has Anyone Seen Gavin?, though the song is uninventive. Thundergun Express and Filthy Animal, on the other hand, are both very impressive and precisely performed. The guitar work is phenomenal and playful. While the album doesn’t offer much new, it boasts a tonne of personality.

Hitting Skins and Pulling Strings EP comes with a recommendation due to its tight tracklisting and respectful length. The EP is undeninably impressive and somewhat memorable. Where it lacks in innovation, it makes up for in character. Here’s hoping the artist can develop the former, though.
