Jackson Marion - Expressions

J Marion is somewhat of a notorious figure in the underground community, due to his tasteless trolling and ravishing ego. One would think someone so passionate and traversed in the frequency theory could produce something other than hot garbage in the hertz spectrum, yet somehow Marion is incapable of producing anything other than over-long, self-indulgent trash. The artist claims he can hear “ghost” frequencies by paul-stretching lame samples out to excessive lengths, yet to everyone else, all that’s audible is the sound of one’s brain cells degrading.

His latest work, Impressions, sits at an impressive 36-hour length. If that wasn’t enough to turn you off, knowing the overwhelming majority of it is awful should. Anyone is capable of taking a 3-minute song and stretching it out to 1 hour; it doesn’t mean they should. If somehow you are interested in experience the album from start to finish, you will be far better off listening to silence for 36 hours and turning that attention inwards. Perhaps then, through the silence, you may hear a “ghost frequency” speaking to you. Otherwise, the only thing you’ll hear through the sonic dribble is a voice at the back of your head demanding you turn it off.

Little is known about Jackson Marion. On his Bandcamp page, he claims the sequences on Impressions are significant, and are an analysis of the tortured and misunderstood artist. Perhaps Jackson Marion is torturing his audience for the excessive misunderstanding he is experiencing. I end this review with my favourite quote of J Marion, which Marion should have directed to the egotistical voice in his head instead of some random artist:

“It's like you took the idea of what a bad song should be and manifested it into this retarded sonic being. It sounds like you used a special ed class choir to do the vocals. If this isn't a meme I feel pity for you. Such wasted effort on such a pointless endeavor, how do you live with yourself knowing that this dumpster of frequencies came from you? Literally every aspect of your music is inherently emotionally dishonest from the stock midi organs to the tarded vocal choice, none of it warrants artistic merit. I suggest you take 2 years off of making music and just listening to more music that you can emulate and watching production tutorials on youtube. Even then though your shit will probably still suck. Bad out of 10 do better next time. “
