Cloudviolent - I Spend My Nights Online in Chatrooms
Cloudviolent is a rapper from Chicago, Illinois, who focuses more on the mockery of incels on /pol/ as opposed to the over-done gangster rap clique. His flow and lyricism are genuinely fantastic; perhaps the strongest rapper on the boards right now.
Fake Woke / Fuck Jane Fonda is nothing innovative, and neither is the bulk of this album; though it is wildly entertaining. The beat is repetitive, but the flow and lyricism are edgy, crass and highly enjoyable. Uncanny samples breathe life in to the twisted Maybe I’ll Be a Pornstar; the dynamics of this song give excellent contrast to the surrounding tracks. Incubus437 is fluff. Synth-wave and glitchy sampling accompany Unsee in an entertaining manner, marking the start of an excellent string of tracks. Sludge in my Laptop boasts an interesting interchange between vocals samples, pitch-modulated rapping and well-composed ambience. C.O.P.P. relies on a repeating hook/chorus more than any other track and nails it swimmingly. The sample use is exaggerated in Kill Everyone in /pol/ to maximise enjoyment; the twisted track is equally discomforting and catchy. Succubus26F is another instrumental piece, though more refined, fleshed out and alluring than Incubus437. Incel Anon is a neat little jam with an awesome end section and Daisy is an extremely cheesy end to the album.
The album has highs much higher than its lows, and there’s plenty of room to expand upon the tentative intervals. Regardless of its tenuity, the album is extremely entertaining - perhaps one of the most enjoyable records you can listen to on /mu/. CloudViolent’s greatest strength as a rapper is his unique personality; few voices in the field are this unique. His music in contrast may not be as unique, though is wholly entertaining. If he could expand upon the experimental sections, he might make something truly incredible and more recognisable one day.
