Инсектарий Веспос - Неоформленный и Ветхий
Two days prior to releasing the genre-defying experience Мажется, Инсектарий Веспос released an incredibly bizarre and equally absorbing experience, Неоформленный и Ветхий. One might question why Веспос didn’t combine the two tracklists together; however, the material present explores a widely different soundscape in the same prolific manner. Very few artists are as innovative as Bеспос in today’s day and age.
Странный День boasts an extravagant sound design and thoroughly absorbing buildup. Липко-Мерзко is equally cryptic and twisted, as is Хтонический Ларёк with its swirly and rather cathartic soundscape. While the latter track is structurally a bit plain compared to the surrounding tracks, it’s still more creative than the majority of EDM. Despite being more ambience-oriented, Метафизический детокс boats an exquisite, liquid soundscape. Разложение без остатка is one of Веспос’s most candid songs - this is a positive, as the track has a natural child-like progression which curiously explores foreign, glitchy ideas in a thrilling manner. Lastly, the marvelous demeneted cubic atmosphere makes Токсическая Энцефалопатия a true standout, even more so when it evolves into an interesting EDM piece.
Despite a strong first first half, the second half contains a few less-quality moments. Ремикс на твою жизнь, for instance, is very plain compared to the previous tracks. Unlike the masterful progressions and dynamic electronic synthetics preceeding, Веспос hones-in on boring vapourware aesthetics and dull ambience. Furthermore, the midi melodies are dull compared to his bombastic beats. Неоформленный is another lacklustre effort that focuses far too much on the ambience, as opposed to the twisted elegance percussive elements that made the preceding tracks standout. Thankfully, it progresses the album fluently into the gorgeous closer, Ветхий; a song that’s more conventional song than the first half of the album, but a song that makes up for it with its terrific sound design. Nevertheless, these are two only duds on an album overflowing with solid moments.
The monkey album could easily be considered Веспос’s best work. In future, Веспос should take the time to compile his best efforts into one compilation, as opposed to fewer lesser-quality experiences. Nevertheless, even at its lowest, the creativity and innovation as so profound, it results in a consistently captivating experience. Неоформленный и Ветхий, as well as the rest of Веспос’s discography, is not to be missed.
