Kootlefoosh - Spider Mites

Kootlefoosh, formerly known as Kleetlefleesh, is an artist from Seattle, Washington. Four years following the release of ACCO 40, Kootle has barely progressed upon the simple yet effective compositions of ACCO 40, however, there has been a noticeable improvement in his execution. Sadly, the album is still lacking innovation.

The crucial component to Kootle’s work, recording ambience, makes a stunning return. While cleaner than the artist’s debut, it is still wholesomely welcoming and comforting. If only tracks such as Palindromic Melody were longer, as their ambience is incredibly alluring. The overuse of reverse samples are a shame this time round, as the album tends to overly on them towards the end. Nevertheless, the guitar playing is quite stunning on tracks such as Calathea Lancifolia / Ruining Everything as Self-Expression and A Good Thing is not Better than Nothing.

It feels like no time has passed since his debut, but one should expect more from Kootle. His latest effort is more of the same, and while technically more refined and greater sounding, no more impressive than his last effort. Perhaps with a style as such, Kootle should return to what made kleetle so special; focus on fleshing out the compositions as opposed to shortening them.
