Simon Cameron Fletcher – Give EP
Very few albums can be so remarkable yet offer little innovation; Simon Cameron Fletcher’s Give EP is one of those notable exceptions. Perhaps it’s due to the consistently warm and personal vocal delivery, or the overwhelmingly comforting reverb that encapsulates each track; nevertheless, Give EP is incredibly delightful and sweet.
It’s difficult to recommend an album that’s 10 minutes long over other more notable albums – if only it were three times as long. Furthermore, it’s a shame the final track is a cover; the remaining three songs stand strongly on their own. Regardless, not since Elliot Smith has an authentic voice been able to carry an album so fluently amidst such spare acoustic arrangements. Here’s hoping Fletcher continues to expand upon his portfolio in future.
