Moxa - Fetish; Equinox of the Gods

Imagine starting an album off so well, only to call it a day and purposefully give up on the rest of your work. Fetish; Equinox of the Gods does exactly that. The opening section is bliss; despite the exemplary jumbled soundscape, it manages to remain meditative in nature, thanks to its alluring bells. Sounds of coins rattling and trains passing may be an odd combination, though somehow it works majestically. One almost feels like a meditator in a construction site, blissfully attuned to the smell of his own farts and aware, yet unscathed, by the surrounding clutter.

“Fantastic! I have made something unique!” says the artist, “but this is only one song! How am I going to release a full album? I know! I’ll fill it with boring pads and the sound of quiffs!”

If there’s anything positive to say about Fetish; Equinox of the Gods, is that it sounds like the video game soundtrack to Resident Evil 7, without the score. These are essentially just sound effects. Good job on adding random sounds to your boring collages, Moxa, but don’t forget to make music next time you release an album. Adding the sound of a door opening and closing on [{[{_ doesn’t make your boring air unique, it makes it more obnoxious. Surely there are more interesting sounds in your life than the sound of you whistling all alone in your mum’s basement on o8o, or the sound of you walking through a city alleyway on %o0. I’d rather play Persona V unironically than listen to this dribble; at least I would emulate a false simulation of having friends. Even Patrick the Starfish would agree you put barely any effort into this. Put him into a coma, and he’d spend the entirety of his dreams wishing he could wake up, just so he could kill himself.
