Imbred - IV

The following artist needs no introduction: Imbred from Adelaide, Australia is a struggling artist who pays for plays. Sadly, no matter how much of the taxpayers’ money he spends, no one is listening to his music – and for good reason.

There are seven tracks in this EP that are only distinguishable by name. Each song is devoid of refinement and barely indistinguishable from one another. Furthermore, all his songs could be summed within one sentence; vacuous nirvana rip-offs with simple three-chord structures. The lacklustre vibe only enlightens how poor his efforts are, and the god-awful vocals are often akin to nails on a chalkboard. That’s not to say they aren’t without charm; over time his vocals have grown on me - perhaps this is from over-exposure. Nonetheless, the fulminated guitars and bustling drums are irrevocably wasted on the knave’s obnoxious and unperturbed songwriting.

There’s something admirable about Imbred’s consistency; though. Sadly, his motivations are purely extrinsic and baseless. His music is crafted as a means to be popular, yet derision is all he has achieved. You’d think after 10 failed efforts he’d attempt to change his approach. Sadly, tantamount to his continuously evincing on-going drug habit, he’s stuck in a cycle. I suggest Imbred put down the bong and pick up a book.
