K!D Cable - Faith Over Fear

Bad

It’s hard to sound like the next big thing, if you sound like the old thing. Unfortunately, the majority of rappers trying to find an audience in the underground scene fail to grasp this concept. Faith Over Fear, by K!D Cable, is just another hip-hop attempt in line with this depressing concept.

There’s very little to distinguish between the tracks. Much of the songs rely on a repeating synth gently mixed in for atmosphere, such as Land and Moves. A lot of the sample are gorgeous, but they’re unfortunately looped and repeated far too repetitively. The drums are quite noteworthy, though; they sound lush and full of life within each track. Sadly, the album is poorly mixed and many of the intricacies are difficult to differentiate.

K!D Cable is indistinguishable from the plethora of Soundcloud rappers trying to make it in the current era of music, complemented with the notorious poor production and obnoxious overuse of samples one would expect from this corner of the internet. If there’s one positive complement one could give K!D Cable, it’s his stylistic flow; yet his delivery and vocal timbre is not distinct enough for one to recommend. Hopefully K!D will make something more unique in his next efforts, as opposed to copying what’s cool.
