Инсектарий Веспос - Мажется
Typically, an album with zero plays and tags such as #postgenre are a clear sign to steer away, though there’s always going to be exceptions to these clauses. Инсектарий Веспос’s Мажется is one of those rare omissions and is worth any fan of dark electronica’s time.
Мажетс, the opener, is filled with fascinating soundscapes and an incredibly unique and mesmerizing progression. The colourful sonic backdrop is accompanied by delirious beats that percolate well through the veil, but marvellously never take over. The trend continues through Чужое, where once again the ambience reigns supreme. The album is masterful at its tense and eerie sections, such as the psychedelic juvenile nightmare of Различные Материалы. The gritty, sonic swooshes that are prevalent throughout the album are not completely unique within their own right but articulated in an incredibly bizarre and expressive manner. There’s never a dull moment sonically through Мажется.
Unfortunately, some of the track’s progressions are not as strong as one another. Tracks such as Неосознанно, Маршрутка В Сибирь and especially Деменция В Разгаре Вечеринки feel repetitive and monotonous in the progression department compared to their stronger partners in crime. Nevertheless, there’s not a single track on here that isn’t oozing with personality. One can only hope Инсектарий Веспос opts for more fleshed-out and riskier compositions in future.
