Forprexxer — It's Forprexxer's Ultimate Cool Kids Edition Dangerously Ultra Retarded Mixtape Of Mashups
I had no idea what to expect going into Forprexxer's Retarded Mixtape Of Mashups, but I honestly did not expect to like it as much as I did. Make no mistake, the album with Sneed, Chungus and “I Fucked Ur Mum” is a bad album; it’s just enjoyingly so.
The album opens with a myriad of pop mashups, ranging from Childish Gambino to Skrillex. The humour throughout is admirable, and the album is thoroughly engaging, especially throughout the track Steve from Minecraft has a mental breakdown, hmmmmm yes I do believe that this is ПОНОСcore and Edp445’s appearance during ZAMN!. The record undeniably peaks with 2hu4u, which doesn’t let its energy down once during its respectable 14-minute run time. Not since Impossible Nothing’s stunning debut has a long electronic dnb suite been so engaging. It’s a shame, because it’s all downhill from there.
Unfortunately, the album blatantly steals far too often, with very little modification. For example, Gigasigma Glowup hardly differentiates itself from I'm scared to get close and I hate being alone by BMTH; when playing both of them side by side, one can hardly discern a difference. There are too many examples to count, such as Death Grips, Eminem, 100 Gecs, Smash Mouth etc. It also has far too many awful songs, such as Crank That Flow.
Pisscore is a difficult genre to review. The genre itself is akin to shitposting, but Forprexxer's Retarded Mixtape has enough solid ideas to warrant its existence – it’s simply over-bloated. Overall, it’s an exhausting listen. Despite its existence feeling like a joke, it’s proficiently spliced together and genuinely well crafted. Sure, it relies on the strengths of its sample material, but barely so; the strength lays in the undeniable creativity. But if you took all the original moments out of the album, you’d have a very short EP. As a result, it’s difficult to recommend in its current state. Here’s hoping the artist ventures into a more innovative territory with their next release – a speck of originality is the only element needed to launch their work into higher echelons.
