LSD and the Search for God - LSD and the Search for God

Sometime during the 2000’s there was an indie shoegaze revival era. Bands such as Candy Claws and Sunny Day in Glascow were responsible for making shoegaze cool again. Among these bands, LSD and the Search for God’s debut (released January 16th, 2007) was easily a standout during this era, due to its emotionally impactful wavelength and gorgeous progression. The band sounded like an equal blend of MBV, Slowdive and Spacemen 3. The album remains an underground underdog champion for good reason; it’s captivating.

The weakest aspect are the vocals; while they don’t lessen the experience, they occasionally sit awkwardly in the mix. I don’t care is bolstered by excellent drum work and gorgeous guitar layering. Starshine was easily better than any similar-sounded song on MBV (2013). The album’s highlight was undeninably Starting Over, though; a dazzling and stunning array of guitars and memorable vocal deliveries.

LSD and the Search for God’s self-titled is notable mostly for its range and attention to detail. Buried away are prominent details, washed already via absorbing waves of noise. The album’s length is perfect as it doesn’t waste a single moment. If you’re a fan of shoegaze, this one’s a no-brainer.
