Gazers – Summer’s End EP

Summer’s End EP was released September 5th, 2021, by Gazers independently on Bandcamp. The album was a poor man’s collection of Genesis-esque dance tracks and easy-listening prog-rock.

Eyes of Lakes and Dances of the Land are both throwaway, bland dance tracks; the first more upbeat, the following more sombre. Gazers is far more respectable, focusing less on the dance elements are more on letting the instrumentals flow. Waves brings the tempo down as it freeflows an electric guitar over a light drum beat, while the closing track repeats the track with a mild, unnoticeable variation. While the mixing is consistently impeccable, it can’t distract one from that fact that the songs have as little soul as they do an innovative idea. Unfortunately the band steer too heavily in the “easy-listening” category, thus negating the energy these songs seriously require.

Grazers are a fantastic band, though it was clear they were still finding their feet with their early releases. Sadly, I cannot recommend Summer’s End EP even to a fan. If anything, check out the song Grazers.
