John Deaf - Orphans 4 $ale EP

John Deaf is an American Producer and Rapper from New York, New York. Equiped with an exquisite flow, he’s one of the strongest rappers in the underground scene. Incorporating elements of glitch, hyperpop and modern day electronica, Deaf breathes fresh life into the modern rap game.

RUN IT UP! (Prod. By laurel sane) boasts a fairly repetitive and conventional maniacal trap beat. Adjust rocks an excellent flow, with production reminiscent of Vince Staple’s debut EP. Furthermore, the beat is progressive, and the incredible delivery barely gives one a moment to digest its impressive delivery. Unfortunately, bar the lyrics, Last Minute Freestyle is indistinguishable from MF Doom’s America’s Most Blunted. Thankfully some of the samples are original, and Deaf’s flow is as impeccable as ever. Stiffy Blikky (Prod. LYNCH) and 3 Lil Friends (Prod. enok.kk) are both clearly underdeveloped; had they been expanded upon, based on the little work present, they could have been rather magnificent. Alas.

One can’t help but wonder why John Deaf decided to abandon these songs. Throughout its short run time, there are quite an admirable amount of ideas packed within that could have been recycled or implemented in future songs. Here’s hoping John Deaf has more hidden up his sleeve.
