Zero Point Fool - I Want My Problems Gone

Originally released on December 23rd, 2018, Zero Point Fool debuted with I Want My Problems Gone. The album, like many others in the underground scene, was entirely unoriginal, yet undeniably entertaining.

What it lacks in execution, it makes up for performance. The title track, I Want My Problems Gone, often sounds unintentionally comical, though somehow simultaneously genuine. Whereas the title track is unintentionally goofy, She's Good is intentionally so, making it stand out in the tracklisting mostly due to its light-hearted, humorous approach. Could Not Care Less is also quite neat; its hazy vibe is consistent into its smooth, caressing second half. Despite the standout tracks, there are plenty of unmemorable moments as well. La Muralla Suicida is unremarkable, A Song About a Thing amateur, and Red Drowned in Blue is baby’s first rock song.

There’s very little to differentiate it from similar rock suites, though fans of Zero Point Fool will easily recognise Fool’s unique vocal delivery and his laid-back style on I Want My Problems Gone. If it weren’t for such a charismatic, enjoyable vocalist, the album would have ranked far lower. Much of the execution is amateur at best. Nonetheless, despite Fool’s recent direction into more serious, austere rock, I hope he returns to his roots in future. They’re surprisingly quite fun.

During the review process, it became apparent how much I enjoyed Zero Point Fool’s debut album; though it’s inherently flawed. It doesn’t deserve a point above average. Thus, I figured now would be the perfect time to introduce the notepad into my reviews.
