Three Days EP was an EP released by Arxthiri on May 8th, 2022. While it may have been lacking in original ideas, it made up for it in performance.
What makes the Three Days EP stand out from other boring vapourwave acts is its enjoyability factor. This is most due to its infusion of trance, and detailed soundscapes. In the opening song, arps are constantly brimming in the background, liquid walls of noises swoosh in-and-out, and foley is continuously scattered throughout. A fantastic song. The more subdued Red Cardinals is completely unoriginal; almost a condensed version of 2814βs Birth of a New Day, though it sits nicely in the track-listing. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Truly (I Say To You), which is not only unoriginal, but boring and repetitive. The album closes with Metroscape Mass; a song which comes close to replicating the magic of the opener, though is not as detailed and perhaps too long.
Both the closer and opener have one thing in common - theyβre at a higher BPM than the middle tracks. Suffice to say, when the artist slows it down and focuses more on ambience, it loses its charm. One can hope the artist reflects on their strength on the next release; while vapourwave is a dead genre, detail and complex soundscapes are always sought for.
