NKUJARKS - SOUNCLOUD TRACKS 2017​-​2020

It’s that time of the year once again where the underground music scene is flooded by amateur artists dicking around with pads on their computers and wasting solid artist names. If it weren’t obvious by now; NKUJARKS’s latest mixtape “SOUNCLOUD TRACKS 2017-2020,” a compilation of boring SoundCloud tracks released April 3rd, 2022, was nothing to write home about.

Despite running at an hour’s length, there’s hardly anything good to say. TILTED has a decent summer vibe, and is pleasantly progressive, though the mixing is plainly amateur. ACOUPLEOFDRINKS interestingly attempts to pair dubstep with darkwave, albeit in the dullest manner possible. BLUE NAILS has a surprisingly enjoyable second half, but a dull first. Lastly, STRUCTURAL DISSIPATION is fairly neat, though it comes far too late in the track-listing. Unfortunately, most of the remaining songs with beats are dull and tacky, such as ESPRESSO, FINDTHEMIND, 6​-​40 and The Verve - Sonnet (Nkujarks Remix). The house sections are the worst, such as OVVLEVO, though nothing is quite as obnoxious as the opening track SX 01; 7 dull minutes of air I’ll never get back.

It’s no wonder /mu/ are so against shill artist. Half the time they probably open links such as these and immediately get deterred for life. It’s the sort of album I dread reviewing. The underground scene ought to call this rubbish out for what it is as much as possible in the shill threads to deter future time-wasters. These are clearly experiments, published without much care. If only there was a way to filter real artists from amateur producers.
