Loris Gilles - Let's Go Sunning

Boasting a stunning album art and some exceptionally good riffs, Let’s Go Stunning is a great psyc-rock album held back greatly by its conventional framework.

Ne’er Been Surfing contains an awesome psychedelic detour, though it is sandwiched between mediocrity. Jellyfish is a prodigious detour; its rhythm and vibe truly enhance the album’s overall experience. In Need of Heat is certainly the highlight of the album; its eccentric methodical drumming is balanced by its exquisite progression and imaginative second half. Sadly, the rest of the album is filler. Sea of Blood, Sarcophagus Lids, Macefelter, DNA and Your Grace are your typical King Gizzard knockoffs. These songs all contain great hooks, though they’re nothing that haven’t been done before.

What Let’s Go Sunning is missing is personality. There’s very little to distinguish it from the competition. The production, vocal delivery, instrumentation and energy are all there. The solo-artist certainly has the potential to make something awesome. There is undeniably a great amount of talent here. Sadly, Festa is too busy trying to imitate his influences.
