Blue Picnic - Spirit of the Beehive

Spirit of the Beehive, a short EP by Blue Picnic, was released on September 19th, 2021. The two songs were apparently from an album named Walking Through A Crowd Of People Who Are Walking The Other Way, though the album was no where to be found. The two songs were, however, impressive enough to make one excited for future releases.

The songs were rather formulaic, but the vocalist was distinct enough to make them stand out from similar acts. Furthermore, the compositions were progressive and playful, bolstered by a strong chill-wave soundscape and delightful percussion. The production was fairly standard for an underground artist, and could definitely be improved upon, though it never drags the experience down. Aside from the obnoxious album cover, everything else was of high quality. If these tracks were any indication of what’s to come, one should definitely keep a keen eye on Blue Picnic.
