Shum - Lebegő klaszter

Shum are guitar-worshiping drone enthusiasts from Miskolc, Hungary. Like the many great works that inspired it, Lebegő klaszter can guide one to inner tranquillity through highly abrasive walls of noise and effective means of hypnosis.

It’s counterproductive to give individualised feedback to each track, as the album has very little to distinguish between its tracks. In succession, this is a positive, as the album gracefully absorbs the listener into its precarious soundscape. Tones are their most interesting when they are electronically manipulated, such as during the absorbing Schwarzschild. The guitars continuously howl in a loud coordinated and harmonized pace, riding the fine line between psychedelia and discordant chamber rock. Furthermore, the enigmatic instrumentation is consistently moody and rather emotionally impactful. While the music itself may not be unique, it is of quality.

The only thing Lebegő klaszter is missing is a sense of identity. Furthermore, it demonstrates that pure drone doesn’t have anything more to offer to the canon of rock music. Nevertheless, the album is extremely well executed and pleasantly harmonising.
